  1. How many islands make up Hawaii?  What is the capital of Hawaii and what island it is located on? 
  2.  Choose one island and learn more about it.  Name and activities to  complete on the island.
  3.  Try some Hawaiian food or create some of your own using recipes.   Examples:  saimin noodles (similar to ramen) , macadamia nuts, pineapples, steamed dumplings and teriyaki chicken.
  4. Research some clothing that is worn in Hawaii for luaus or events. Aloha shirts for men and women wear muumuu dresses or pau skirts. Other items they wear include t-shirts and shorts, sandals, flip flops, and puka shell necklaces. Design your own shirt or dress on paper. Tropical items and flowers are common designs.
  5. Choose a unique area or place to learn more about.  What island is it located on, is there an admission fee, what are the details of the place? What do you like about it? Examples: Pineapple Plantation, Macadamia nut farm, volcano, Road to Hana, Haleakala National Park, Iao Valley, Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
  6. Learn more about Luaus or create one of your own.  What type of food and entertainment is at a luau?  You can also, watch one on the internet.
  7. Hawaii is an island. That means there is water all around the edges of the land.  Research a water activity that is completed there.  Watch videos or visit websites to view pictures. Examples: snorkeling, surfing, boating, wind surfing, outrigger canoe rides, kite surfing, paddle boarding, dolphin quests, and whale watching.
  8. Choose one animal to learn more about from Hawaii.  This includes marine life, birds, sea turtles, and other unique creatures. 
  9. Learn about a myth or legend told in Hawaii.  What was the story about.
  10. Make a lei OR a flower headdress OR learn to do the hula.
