Spanish Heritage There are 21 Spanish-speaking countries in the world. Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, & Venezuela.

Complete 3 requirements  ( You may have completed this at thinking day or a cultural event)

1. Learn about a country that speaks Spanish. What is the capital? What is their currency and flag?

 2.  Learn a Spanish dance, song, or game.

3.  Dress up in a traditional costume from a Spanish country. Make a costume or accessory.

 4. Make a recipe from a Spanish country. Some examples are: tres leches cake, dulce de leche cookies, or shaved ice drink.

 5. Make a craft from a Spanish country. Some examples are: God’s eyes, llama puppet, yarn painting, or a necklace.

6. In most Spanish countries, shaped boxes filled with candies called “piñatas” are at birthday parties. Make or buy your own party and have a fiesta! There is also another special birthday party called a “quinceanera” – a girl’s 15th birthday party. Learn more about a quinceanera and what they do to make it special.

7.  Learn some phrases in Spanish like “hola,” “que tal?” “Buenos dias!”. Try to speak some or count to 10 in Spanish.

8.  Music is very important to Spanish heritage. Learn more about Spanish instruments, bands, or singers. Listen to some Spanish music.

9. Talk to someone that their heritage is from a Spanish country. Ask them what it’s like.

10. Learn about famous artists or people that come from Spanish countries. Examples are: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Selena, Juanes, Jennifer Lopez, or Penelope Cruz. Listen or view their art.

11. Learn about some past times that Spanish countries do for fun. Examples are: bull fighting, flamenco dancing, plays, or horseback riding. For extra, participate or watch one.

12. Go to an international grocery store and look at Spanish foods. Try a food or drink that is from a Spanish country.

 13.  Attend a cultural event that represents Spanish country.
