1. Dolly Parton was born in Tennessee on January 19, 1946.  Find out more about Tennessee. Where it is located in the USA, the state flower or bird. 

 2. Dolly was raised in the Great Smoky Mountains, which is now part of a national park. Choose any national park or the Great Smoking Mountains to learn more about. It could be in your state or one that you always wanted to visit. What state is it located in? What type of trees, monuments, animals, and terrain does it have? For extra, visit a national park.  3. Dolly Parton became a lifetime member of Girl Scouts in 2007.  Complete a badge, patch program, community service project or activity to show participation in the Girl Scout program.

 4. When she was growing up her mom made her a coat of many colors which she patchworked together from scraps of fabric.  Make something from recycled clothing or fabric OR sew an item OR create a patchwork item using a square pattern.  (check out our sewing kits)

She learned how to play the guitar at age 7 and started writing her own songs.  She performed on the radio as a child, at age 13 the Grand Ole Opry, moved to Nashville after high school, and was inducted into the hall of fame in 1999.
