VINTAGE SCOUTING SKILLS PATCHES

You do not have to learn all the skills to earn this patch. It simply represents the skills you can learn. Choose  ONE ITEM TO COMPLETE from each patch program to earn the patch.

Vintage Culture
1. Choose a book to read to explore other lands. Some examples include: adventure, biography, history, activities (games, crafts, recipes), fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, storybook, love, mystery, poetry, science fiction, short stories, or about different cultures/countries OR participate in a book drive OR make book marks.
2. Learn to dance an international dance or watch one OR make a costume for your dance OR learn a cultural singing game/dance.
3. Act out a play or puppet show based on a cultural story OR learn an international song or learn or view dance from another country.
4.  Learn about clothing from other countries. Create an accessory or try on clothing from another country.
5. Pretend you are traveling to another land. Make a passport with different countries or participate in Thinking Day.
6. Create a recipe that represents a country you do not live in.
7. Celebrate a festival or complete a craft from a different country.
8. Learn how to say "hello" and "goodbye" and count up to ten in another language.
9.  Find a game from a different country and play it.
Vintage Outdoor
1. Learn about animal habitats.
2. Play a game or sing a song by the campfire.
3.  Learn how to tie different knots in a rope OR use a compass to follow a trail.
4. Learn how to recognize and avoid poisonous plants OR learn simple first aid skills. Examples include: small cuts, scrap on skin, and creating a sling for an arm.
5.  Learn about a constellation or learn about moon phases OR visit a planetarium or observatory OR use a telescope or binoculars to gaze in the sky.
6.  Plan, prepare, and cook an outdoor meal OR learn fire and cooking.
7.  Learn the parts of a tree or how to identify different leaves or trees.
8. Learn about animal tracks or how to use a magnifying glass.
9. Learn how to tie up your sleeping bag or learn how to pitch a tent OR learn how to pitch a tent OR help set up a campsite or pack up after your camping adventure.
10.  Learn how to canoe or complete a water related activity.

Vintage Life
1. Learn how to measure out dry, liquid, and solid ingredients OR prepare a recipe.
2. Make a emergency contact card with a list of numbers for the doctor, ambulance, police, fire department, poison control, and other emergency calls.
3. Learn table or tea manners. Set a table.
4. Help plan entertainment, refreshments, and send invitations for a tea or birthday party.
5. Create a chore list with your parents for the week. Examples: clean your room, dust, vacuum, feed pet, or sweep.
6. Learn how to sort your clothes and how they should be washed OR organize your closet, drawers, and belongings so they can be found easily OR grocery shop.
7.  Learn when your state officially became a member of the United States. Draw or color or learn about your flag, flower, and bird for your state.
8. Take part in a service project that would help your community.
9. Make something useful for your home. 
10.  Participate in a sport  or dance program once a week.
11. Learn about the care of your hair. Examples are: how often you should shampoo, use of conditioner, gels and other hair products OR about different hair styles.
12. Learn how to keep your nails and hands clean. For extra, paint your nails or get a manicure/pedicure.
